Hello
Sara Herchenroether wrote her first novel in the sixth grade, published in serial form, when her Language Arts teacher let her read a chapter a week every Friday. After photocopying her wide-ruled handwritten pages and mailing them to the Big Five, it didn’t sell. She went on to graduate sixth grade (and middle and high school) and study English at Northwestern University. Sara Herchenroether taught American Literature and AP English at Frederick Douglass Academy in Harlem, New York for seven years and another year in New Haven. She holds a Masters’ Degree in Teaching and is a National Board Certified Teacher in Adolescent Young Adult English Language Arts.
Sara Herchenroether currently lives in Columbus, Ohio with her husband, four young children, one old dog and two cats. Her debut, THE NIGHT FLOWERS, was released by Tin House Books in May 2023 and was selected as an Indie Next Pick and a Strand Mystery Book-of-the-Month. She is represented by Rachel Ekstrom Courage.
